Củ cải và cà rốt sau khi mua về cắt bỏ gốc, rửa sạch, gọt vỏ. Dùng dao bào để bào củ cải và cà rốt thành từng sợi khoảng 4-5 cm. Nếu không có bào thì dùng dao cắt sợi, hoặc tỉa hoa văn tùy sở thích.
Ngâm cà rốt và củ cải đã cắt sợi với muối (tùy vào lượng cà rốt và củ cải mà bạn sử dụng lượng muối sao cho phù hợp). Giữ hỗn hợp như thế trong khoảng 30 phút. Sau 30 phút ngâm củ cải và cà rốt, củ cải lúc này đã mềm và có thể uốn cong.
Xả sạch củ cải, cà rốt với nước lạnh rồi để ráo, cho vào lọ thủy tinh. Cho giấm, đường và nước vào nồi đun nóng. Các bạn nhớ khuấy đều cho đường tan rồi tắt lửa, để nguội. Đỗ hỗn hợp nước đã nấu vào sao cho ngập mặt củ cải và cà rốt. Đậy kín lọ, sau nửa ngày đến 1 ngày có thể mang ra dùng.
